Commander Submarines Allied Naval Forces North (COMSUBNORTH)

COMSUBNORTH is the peacetime Submarine Movement Advisory Authority (SMAA) for all NATO submarines operating within the entire Eastern Atlantic, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, as well as within the area of JHQ WEST area. It routinely takes operational control (OPCON) of units patrolling in these areas for exercises. One of his major tasks is the deconfliction of all submarine units.
